1. My son is only 3 years old. Is it safe to practice Jiu-Jitsu?
R: Yes, absolutely. Classes for this age group (3-5 years) are based on playful activities (games) that introduce basic movements safely. The main focus is the development of motor coordination, respect for rules, and fun, without intense sparring.
2. Do I need to be in good physical shape or flexible to start?
R: No. Physical conditioning is a consequence of training, not a prerequisite. Jiu-Jitsu adapts to any body type and age. The student will naturally gain endurance, strength, and flexibility with regular practice and at their own pace.
3. Is it mandatory to wear a kimono (Gi) right in the first class?
R: No. For the trial class, just bring comfortable sportswear that fits close to the body (like a t-shirt and shorts or leggings without zippers/pockets) to avoid getting fingers caught. After registration, the instructor will provide guidance on acquiring the appropriate equipment (Kimono).
4. Are classes mixed or separated by age?
R: Classes are organized mainly by age groups (Kids and Adults) to ensure that the methodology, language, and training intensity are appropriate for each student's developmental stage.
5. Does Jiu-Jitsu help improve children's behavior and concentration?
R: Yes. Discipline, respect for the master and peers, and the ability to deal with frustration are fundamental pillars of Jiu-Jitsu. Regular practice helps channel children's energy, often reflecting in improved school concentration and behavior at home.
6. Can I try it out before enrolling?
R: Yes. We offer the first class for free so you can get to know the environment, the instructor, and the dynamics of the sport before making any commitment.
7. Are the classes violent?
R: Quite the opposite. Jiu-Jitsu is known as the 'gentle art'. The technique is based on control, leverage, and immobilization, allowing a weaker person to defend themselves against a stronger one without the need for excessive aggression. The environment on the mat is one of mutual respect and camaraderie.
