The difference between a good dancer and a dancer who stands out lies in what she does when she dances alone.
Solo ballroom dancing is the most effective tool to elevate the quality of your dance. In Paranhos, at Ritmos Dance Studio, these classes focus entirely on you: your posture, your balance, your footwork, your styling and your musicality.
By mastering these elements individually, your partner dancing becomes more fluid, more confident and more impressive. It is the invisible work that makes all the visible difference on the dance floor.
What is worked on in these classes
- Footwork: clean and precise foot technique, the foundation of any good dance
- Balance and rotations: control of the centre of gravity in spins and turns
- Arm styling: elegant and expressive arm lines
- Posture and body awareness: what separates a confident dancer from an insecure one
- Musicality: learning to interpret the music, not just follow the beat

1. If I dance with a partner, what is the real advantage of having a solo class?
A: The advantage is total. In partner classes, it is natural to use your partner as support for balance and movement. In these solo classes you learn to master your own balance, posture and movements without any help. This will make you a more independent, confident dancer and, consequently, a much better and more assured partner.
2. Is this class more for social dancers or competitors?
A: It is for both, as the benefits apply to all levels. A social dancer will gain a new elegance and ease that will make her stand out on the floor. A competitor will find here the space to refine the technical details that make the difference in judges' scores and provide a competitive edge.
3. What specific technical aspects are worked on in class?
A: The focus is on the individual fundamentals of dance. Covered in detail are foot technique (footwork), control of the centre of gravity, balance in rotations and turns (spins and turns), arm lines (arm styling) and body expression, always with a strong connection to musicality.
4. Does this class complement Latin Ladies classes?
A: Yes, perfectly. While Latin Ladies works on expression and styling in a more creative and musical context, solo classes focus on pure technique — footwork, balance and rotations. The two classes together are the ideal combination for a dancer who wants to evolve at every level.
5. Is the class very demanding physically?
A: It is more of a technical class than a cardiovascular one. The challenge lies not in perspiration but in concentration and muscular control. You will work stabilising muscles you perhaps never knew existed, resulting in greater strength and body awareness.
6. What should I wear and what footwear is best?
A: Wear comfortable training clothes that allow the lines of the body to be seen (avoid very loose pieces). The ideal footwear is dance shoes (training or competition). If you do not have any, bring shoes with a smooth sole that does not grip the floor, to make rotations easier.
7. Is there an unlimited pass option to attend multiple classes?
A: Yes! The Free Pass is €55/month. With it, you have full and unlimited access to all classes at the studio, including Ballroom, Competition, Afro-Latin, Latin Ladies and Solo Dance. It is the best way to immerse yourself in the world of dance and progress quickly.
